Tourist Attractions in Azuga

Azuga is one of the most beautiful towns in Romania, blessed with a perfect position between the Bucegi Mountains and the Baiului Mountains that surround the town all around and crossed by the two rivers, Azuga and Prahova. The town is crossed by the national highway DN1, which connects Ploiești with Brasov. The Ploiești-Brasov railroad also passes through the town, which is served by the Azuga station.

There are also several historical monuments that tourists can discover, such as the cemetery of the heroes of the First World War, the numerous houses with architectural value such as the Ion Taras, Lucian Marcu or Petre Tibeica houses and the monuments dedicated to Ecaterina Tedoroiu and the Heroes of 1877. There are also a few natural monuments worth mentioning, such as the Secular Beech in the courtyard of the Forestry Office, the Mammoth Tree and the White Fir on the path to Gârbova.

Caraiman Monastery

Black Church Brasov

A 16th century building, originally known as St. Mary’s Church, the Black Church is the most representative monument of Gothic architecture in Romania. The church was burned down before 1384, and reconstruction lasted until 1477. An inscription discovered in the wall of the church attests that the first founder was Thomas, who died in 1410. The plan used by the architects was that of a basilica with three naves, equal in height, in keeping with the type of hall-church favored in the 15th-16th centuries in Germany, where some of the architects and craftsmen came from.

Pelișor Castle

Pelișor Castle is a small palace built on the grounds of Peles Castle in Sinaia. The castle was built between 1889 and 1903 by King Carol I for the future King Ferdinand and Queen Maria. Until Pelișor was finished, young people lived at Foișor. Pelișor has only 99 rooms, compared to Peles Castle with 160 rooms. The whole house was decorated to be a princely residence and bears the mark of a powerful personality: Queen Maria. The entrance hall is paneled with oak.
